SBMA Research Grants and Waite-Griffin SBMA Fellowship
Our Focus Remains on Research and Education
The Kennedy’s Disease Association (KDA) is committed to accelerating research that improves understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of Kennedy’s Disease, also known as Spinal and Bulbar Muscular Atrophy (SBMA). Through our research grants and fellowship programs, KDA supports innovative studies that help cultivate the next generation of SBMA researchers.
Our funding initiatives are guided by one clear goal: to move the research forward in ways that meaningfully improve the lives of individuals and families affected by Kennedy’s Disease.
SBMA Research Grants
KDA SBMA Research Grants are designed to support scientific projects that advance knowledge of SBMA and explore potential pathways toward effective treatments.
KDA plans to fund one or more research grants to further the understanding of the pathological mechanisms or possible treatments for Kennedy's Disease. Proposals from junior investigators and senior post-doctoral fellows are encouraged.

Waite-Griffin SBMA Fellowship
A Career-Development Opportunity for Research into Kennedy’s Disease
The Waite‑Griffin SBMA Fellowship was established to honor the legacy of individuals and families whose generosity and commitment have strengthened the KD/SBMA research community.
KDA believes it is important to support young researchers who are enthusiastic about their work. We believe that by doing so, we will encourage them to include research in SBMA in their future career research plans.
