Dr. Asuka Eguchi, Ph.D
Bio
Asuka Eguchi is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Irvine. She received her BS in Biology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and completed her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. She trained as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Professor Helen Blau at Stanford University and became an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Irvine in 2023. Dr. Eguchi has a background in engineering synthetic proteins for transcriptional control and disease modeling using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Dr. Eguchi currently studies genetic forms of heart failure by differentiating human iPSCs to cardiomyocytes. By comparing healthy and diseased states, Dr. Eguchi has developed molecular and functional assays to test the efficacy of therapeutic strategies in a dish.
