July 2025 Meeting Notes

Meeting Highlights:  

  1. Marketing and Outreach Update:
  • The team reported that the 100-Step Challenge fundraising results fell short of expectations, noting low participation and plans to reach out to the membership for feedback.  
  • The KDA website refresh is ready to go live, with improved navigation and content organization.  
  • Presented new marketing materials, including a physician card with QR codes and a comprehensive booklet about KD which will replace the outdated trifold. Discussion ensued about budgeting for wider distribution of the booklet.
  • The Board thanked Therese Gregorio for her efforts on these projects and others, including a new format for the KDA Newsletter.  
  1. Financial Update included a report on the reorganization of QuickBooks, which has streamlined the accounting system and set a solid foundation for future financial management.  
  2.  KDA 2026 Conference Update
  • The main focus was on finalizing registration fees for the upcoming conference, with a goal of opening up registration by the end of July.
  • The draft agenda is taking shape and speakers are being engaged.  
  • As researchers/scientists from abroad have experienced some issues with entry into the U.S., the KDA will provide personalized letters of invitation to our foreign doctors and researchers upon request when registering to help facilitate the entry process.  
  1. Centers of Excellence
  • Discussed the need to better inform neurologists across the U.S. about KD so that they can better identify and treat patients. This will take some investment on our part to get contact information and initiate communications.  
  • Also discussed getting more participation in and expanding the CORDS registry by adding a more comprehensive questionnaire.Prepared for the KDA Board annual meeting next month during which election of officers and directors will take place as well as discussion of governance and operational issues.
