Meeting Highlights:
- The leaders of our patient, carrier, and partner/caregiver support groups (Doug Ciskowski, Joan Sorenson, and Anita Kowalski) provided updates on their groups’ discussions and concerns.
- Made specific plans for the October 18 “Meet the Board” session, for which 38 people have signed up thus far. The meeting is open to all KDA members to share ideas and ask questions of Board members.
- Received an update on marketing and outreach efforts, learning that 74 new members have signed up since July, there is a volunteer for social media outreach, there’s been a decision on auction software to be used for the 2026 conference, and 40 people have signed up for the Canadian regional meeting to be held next month.
- Received an update on planning for the 2026 conference. An updated agenda will be posted this week, featuring a nearly complete list of patient talks and speakers that will include a keynote address given by our favorite chef, Dan Jacobs.
- Updates from KDA President: Terry will attend the annual NORD meeting (the “Breakthrough Summit”) and the LONDC annual summit meeting, both later this month. Terry mentioned that KDA received 16 proposals for grants and fellowships which are being reviewed by the SRB and other experts and will undergo Board review and decisions next month.
